I downloaded a copy of the latest Navy Dive manual a few days ago from http://www.supsalv.org/manuals/diveman5/divManual5.htm
While I don't think I'll ever need to know how to deal with an underwater explosion, or calculate safe distances for working near a sonar transmitter... There is a LOT of good reading in those books. I'm only on book 2 of 5 so far (mixed gas ... fun stuff) I was especially intrigued by how comprehensive the physiology section was compared to even my DM reading/tests. And the chapter on the history of diving was a lot of fun too. I'm actually looking forward to book 5 (dive medicine).
Anyone else out there enjoying reading through it at the moment? What interesting things have you picked up from it?
Aloha, Tim
