I'm a Fish!
Back in the early / mid 1990s I received several NAUI certifications including Rescue Diver. Recently I found my collection of patches / tabs for those classes but for whatever reason I do not seem to have either for my Rescue Diver course.

Were such patches available for that class (I don't recall if that was a specialty or level) and if so is there some chance I could obtain one (if they are still available) to round out my collection? I'm thinking about making a presentation case and putting it up in my dive locker (garage).

I took all of my courses in Huntsville Alabama and the instructor for the Rescue Class was Dave Quillen (lost contact with him) at the Space and Rocket Center.

Thanks,
Ltstanfo

try NAUI Worldwide Dive Safety Through Education is their website , should be able to order. if not pm me and i'll order for u lol

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the website before I posted here and there is no listing for a rescue patch / tab on the store page. I'll trying calling them directly and see what happens.

I did try to find my records online using their provided search engine but they appear to have no record of me (as far as the website is concerned). At the time I took my NAUI courses, using a SSN was still the norm and of course everything was done on paper. I wonder if my records were transcribed onto their database? Thankfully I've got all my C-cards.

My records didn't show up either. I took OW I, OW II, Advanced OW and Rescue back in '88 while I was in Singapore. My c-cards didn't use SSN or any other personally identifiable information.

That particular sequence of courses is now considered NAUI Master Scuba Diver. All I had to do was photo copy my log book entries and my c-cards to request the change. As a result, my new ID number is now in the database. All of the training entries in my log book are signed and stamped with a NAUI logo.

This lack of older data seems fairly common. Neither my wife's nor my SSI training show up in their database either.

At the time you took your course, NAUI did not have a Rescue Diver patch. They had a Specialty Diver Patch and then you added the tabs or chevrons for the Specialties you completed.

Thanks for the reply SeaCobra. That was the answer I had arrived at but am glad to have someone confirm it (no specific patch but specialty chevron). Now if I can find one of those elusive chevrons...

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Ltstanfo, I was doing a search for Dave and came across this thread. I got my NAUI instructor ticket from Dave at an ITC held at the space center and completed April 23, 1995. Dave's instructor number is/was 12101 if you call NAUI and have all of your address data at the time of the course and Daves id you should be able to get what ever you need. Dave lived with his elderly mom to care for her and I am sure she is gone by now so I don't know if he has moved but his phone number is disconected it was 205 232-6415 if you have any way to back trace. he left the space center when management changed sometime in the lat 90's and was involved in a quarry just south of Huntsville {name?} some guy named greg who was one of the other instructors in my class was his poartner. If you do find him pass on my user ID here and ask him to get in touch.
Thanks,
Mike
