No real difference...you can get your basic certification with any of them. The thing that's important though is your instructor. Don't worry so much about the agency, but rather, look for a good instructor.

Ask around. I'm not sure about OC dive shops, so I can't help too much, but I'm sure you can find a good instructor around.

i am getting certified through my school, my instructor said that the entire organization has never had a diving accident. using common sense i would say thats pretty good:D

So, ask your instructor who he is certified with. And then ask him "why them ? "

The 'entire organization'? As in the instructors there at your school?

they come out and certify students for pretty cheap, im getting fully certified during school hours for like $195. is that a good deal?

I guess you still don't know who is certifing you. Maybe you'll be certified as a motorcycle mechanic. Do your homework. Do you have a text ? While you are on the computer check out the "training and tour operator out at catalina." Find out what they say. $195 for what ? Do you get wet? Rent equipment ? Get a book ? Pool sessions ? Open water ?

im being certified by ocean gear based out of laguna. srry about being skimpy on details but i know for 195 we get pool sessions, class sessions, and we go out to the ocean sometime (still not too clear on the details)
