To all NAUI members and the dive industry at large:
Online voting opens today, Monday, October 28, 2013 and closes at 5:00 PM EST on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. NAUI Instructor members have a unique role and responsibility in shaping the future of their association. Unlike other training agencies, NAUI instructors elect a board of directors to serve four-year terms and it is these directors who are responsible to oversee the welfare and direction of the organization. Democracy requires participation so please vote!  For the first time in many years, this election gives members an unprecedented opportunity to elect three new directors who share a vision to return NAUI back to its rightful place as an industry leader.
We are running as a slate, recognizing that now, more than ever, change is needed. Most members recognize that participation in membership and NAUI facilities worldwide has declined in recent years. If you are like us, you probably feel a sense of dismay and frustration with the current state of the association and you probably even wish you could do something about it. While some choose to blame these declines on worldwide economic difficulties, we believe this is a false argument that obscures the failure to develop and implement a strategic plan for long-term growth and prosperity. Universally, NAUI members rightfully feel pride in membership in their organization and it is time we elect leaders who will act on that belief.
The NAUI Board of Directors has a responsibility to give direction and oversight to our service partner, NAUI Services Group (NSG). The board must lead and NSG must implement programs that support the board agenda and future growth.  Too many on the current board have little or no involvement in the dive industry; we need members who are involved in diving, who own business and who actively teach NAUI programs. Dallas, Rick and Michael possess these prerequisites, plus share a common vision and desire to see NAUI return to its rightful role as an innovator and leader in diver education.
We have pledged to work together with all members of the board to develop a strategic plan for a path forward. We need to grow NAUI membership and facilities worldwide. We invite all NAUI members to join us in this effort by voting in this election. This is our call for action! We respectfully ask for your vote to elect Dallas Edmiston, Rick Lorimor and Michael Feld to the NAUI Board of Directors.
Respectfully,
Dallas Edmiston NAUI #4099, Rick Lorimor NAUI #44715, Michael Feld #50134
Dallas Edmiston brings a wealth of experience as a former school psychologist, NAUI instructor and business owner. He is a Course Director, technical instructor and dive shop owner focusing on instruction, retail operations and international dive travel.
