Thanks for sharing. I had heard about this. It's very sad to know that so many whales have been trapped by the ice and need to be humanely culled.

I wish technology could do something, but way too late and way too expensive . It doesn't feel fair. That being said, I have been up in Nunavut territory and know that the local hunters/citizens are doing the humane thing. :depressed:

Decades ago some gray whales were trapped in the ice. Their breathing holes were mechanically kept open and a gigantic ice breaker from Russia cleared a path for them to the open ocean.
