Nantucket Shark DIVERS is a full scale shark dive operator out of Nantucket, Mass. If you want to dive with blues and makos in blue open water check us out and visit our website, now booking trips from June - October 2010: Nantucket Shark Divers
It's a private charter. For that price you get the boat to yourself and numerous diving opportunities that come with being offshore. Other shark dive operators charge similar prices and do not offer a private charter. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks, - NSD
We run out 10+ miles on these trips to get good sharks and good vis. Your average offshore fishing charter boat charges 1,000 plus for offshore trips. Welcome to the world of offshore charting. If you can find an all day private charter that is running offshore for less than 800 a trip let me know. Between 4 people our trip is only 200 a person. For that you get your own boat, a trip offshore, access to a shark cage, and a captain and crew that can put you safely in the water with sharks. 800 is a lot if your diving with yourself...Our charters are aiming for group trips where the price will be broken down between guests. So get some people together and spend your 200 dollar share for a full day offshore shark diving. Best.
It's a reasonable cost for a private charter and you definitely need to be offshore to get Blues, Makos etc. Also, it's a hassle setting up a cage and making sure everyone is safe and attended to on top of being a crew/captain with a boat full of very excited clientele. Scuba gear on a 23' footer also makes it a tad harder. I prefer the ole' snorkel.
Insurance for such an endeavor isn't inexpensive. Lastly - we are talking Nantucket during peak season and you know slip fees at the island are anything but inexpensive.
I think you might want to make that clearer on the site where you list the prices (along with how many passengers that would include). You might unnecessarily scare customers away who incorrectly assume that price is for a single seat as seems to be happening with several of the people here.
But that aside, I agree with Mr. X, for a full boat offshore charter $800 is pretty reasonable.
The price is 800 for up to 4 guests. Additional guests 200 a person. We do all of our diving on snorkel and have out of cage opportunities for experienced divers. We will be featured in Shark Diver Magazine this summer and have group trips scheduled through idivesharks.com and sharkdivermag.com You can also book direct for your own dates. Again the price is 800 for up to 4 people, an additional 200 per person after that. This price is very fair considering the boat being a private charter and the nature of our business. It is also a trip that you won't forget anytime soon. We specialize in taking out experienced divers looking for photography and video opportunities as well as beginners looking to witness sharks through the cage. If you have any specific questions post away or email me at nantucketsharkdivers@gmail.com We are now booking trips for the summer 2010 season with the best months of June and August starting to fill up. Sharks are guaranteed on our trips......
