FYI, I just got this:

I am writing this from Tonga where last week we were shipwrecked on the wonderful dive boat Nai'a. The boat was flung upon a reef at 3am in a very remote area. We abandoned ship at 4 am and made it to a deserted island where the 12 of us were rescued 12 hours later. It was a wild storm and it was very lucky we are all safe. A week later the crew is having no luck getting the Nai'a off the reef. She is in sad condition. The crew were wonderful.

I just got off the phone with Rob Barrel in Fiji. He's the owner/manager of the boat. It's off the reef and tied up at a local wharf and is due to be towed later today back to Fiji.

Damage appears minimal (though the experience for the passenegers was one they'll apparently never forget) and Rob has scheduled drydock repairs to begin as soon as the boat reaches Fiji. He anticipates being back in the water sometime around September 8.

I also suggested to him, following the lead of Truth Aqautics when the Conception was wrecked, that he post updated info on his website ( http://www.naia.com.fj/ )and he said he'd try ot put that at the top of his list.

Well, Ken, I'm glad to hear you and everyone else are safe!

I was NOT on the boat. I'm just relaying the information.

Any further confirmation of this? Would be very sorry to hear it, I've heard great things about the Naia.
