Im looking at some used steel tanks. However I cant identify the capacity.

They are PST tanks 23" circumference (7.25 in diameter) and 24" tall but the service pressure is stamped 3000 and 78+ was the first stamp.

I cant find a chart which correlates with this data. Most reference material I see doesnt have any PST with that service pressure listed.

Any idea what they might be? I'm guessing 80cf?

It may not have lasted long as a tank. As I fudge the figures, it is a slightly increased diameter than an old steel 72 and about the same height (measured without the valve).

An old 72 will hold about 71.2 cuft at 2475# (2250+10%)

Assuming the steel is a little thicker (higher pressure) on your tank and the inside volume is the same, it will hold around 86 cuft at working pressure and around 94 cuft at 3300# (+10%)

It may have been a workup to their PST E7-100 which is the same size but a higher pressure. (an old steel 72 would be about 99 cuft if it could be filled to 3445)

Good Luck

Bob
