Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head

So, I may get a deal on a 4-day/3-night trip to either Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head in September or October. Which would be the better location for diving? Myrtle Beach would be a shorter drive, but Hilton Head is only a few hours further away. ($199 total and all I have to do is sit through a 90 minute presentation on some vacation/time share thing)

Myrtle Beach by far. We dove with Express Watersports out of Murrell's Inlet - 1/2 hr. from Myrtle Beach - a couple of times. There are some ledges but most of the diving is based around wrecks. Express Water Sports - Myrtle Beach Scuba We dove the Perry wreck but the vis was pretty bad - in summer. Coastal Scuba is another option in Myrtle Beach. Coastal Scuba

There's no dive operator on Hilton Head - it's too shallow and sandy. Check with Deep South Divers in Beaufort - DEEP SOUTH DIVERS - Your Underwater Specialists! - I think they do some offshore diving nearby.

I think there's also some options in nearby Savannah but IDK what they are currently. Maybe try Fantasia Scuba for more info.

It looks like Myrtle Beach isn't far from the river dive with the Mega(not gonna spell it out) shark teeth. Cooper River I think.

+1 on Express Watersports.

If you are planning on diving the Cooper, I'm told it is very low viz. Also, to help keep yourself in one spot on the bottom, some folks use a tool like this:

I believe there are also requirements for some paperwork for collecting "artifacts" like Megalodon teeth - the dive op should be able to hook you up with the link.
