Ok, so I just got my new Transpac XT in, tried it on at the shop, and preliminarily noticed a few things.

First, the stitching on the back pad is unproportional. For example, the stitching should be 1/3, 1/3, 1/3, separating the padding into 3 “equal” sections, but it is obvious to the eye that it is not proportional, sewn poorly and let past quality control. But I doubt it will affect the comfort or use in any way.

Second, when the wing was inflated, it was “crooked”, or skewed, so if I placed it on a flat surface, it will not lie flat, with 2 opposite ends on the diagonal curled up. I hope I’m explaining this right. Again, looks like the sewing wasn’t perfect. The wing is a Travel XT wing.

Now, my question is, are these big enough issues that I should ask for a replacement or are these issues so minor that only matters to my picky beginner self? I don’t want to make a fuss if it really isn’t an issue but I can’t tell if it’s an issue or not.

Folks with experience with wings and/or this particular setup please help!

I think that you need to post pictures showing what you are complaining about.

The Hollis doubles wing I got a couple of months ago has a slight twist in it at the very bottom when fully inflated. I think it's just how the bladder is situated inside it. It drives me bananas (to look at it when I fully inflate it while cleaning it) but does not affect the way the wing works.

I've only owned one other wing, a DSS one, that did / does not do that. Both are donuts.

Post a pic?

I will need to rent a tank and inflate it to take the pics so maybe in a day or two.

I really prefer not to call it “complaining” because I really just don’t know if there is something wrong or not. :p

Thanks! Will post pics...

You can't inflate it yourself??? Oral inflation??

:facepalm:Oops, I suppose I could! Will do so shortly.

But I wanted to see if there was a tank attached, if it would make a difference, like straighten it out, that’s why I was thinking I could rent a tank to test it.

The padding shouldn't be in thirds. The center section gets larger as it goes down. It should be decently symmetrical though.

Don't worry about the wing unless it leaks.

A tank will not inflate it more than you can with oral inflation. Once it gets super full, the OPV will pop and it will deflate.

Does it have a zipper? If so, you could open the zipper (with the wing deflated) and try to reposition the internal bladder inside the external cover.

Both of our Halcyon wings curl up a bit when fully inflated and not mounted on the backplate. I don’t think it is a concern at all. The only time they ever get fully inflated is when they are being rinsed and drained.
