How cool is that!!!! did you find him around your property? I have squirrels in my garden and although they come to eat right next to me (after months of reasuring them that I was not the big bad wolf :)), I don't think they'd let me feed them with a dropper. He is sooooo cute!

That is to cool. Squirrels are great.

We could send you some squirrels. We have a big split leaf maple out front and they are all over it. They eat all my wife's flower blubs and get into the garbage. Last year I caught a lot of them in a humane cage and brought them over to the park.

But you are right they are cute even though they eat my wiring on the camper.

The poor little guy survived a 50' fall when the branch he was on broke off & crashed down across the end of the driveway, due to strong winds from Hurricane Frances. My brother & I found him while cleaning up the end of the driveway during a lull in the storm. He looked more like a rat than a squirrel. A date with a towel & some milk helped liven him up, though.

Cute, yes. You sure his momma wasn't looking for him. CDC advises the main threat is rabies, with some liklihood of westnile and various tick and flea vector deseases. Good news is that plague is more likely in ground squirrels. Tetnus, Hep A, Hep B up to date?

Be a good guy, but don't be blind to danger. :D

eww, don, now you made that cute lil squirrel ugly ;)
Ah, they're cute. I've known people to keep ground squirrels, prairie dogs, ferrets, rats, even skunks for pets. It pays to do so with the proper safeguards, though. I used to have a pair of Serrsalmus natteri Red Belly Piranhas and an Electric Catfish that would let me stroke him with just a tickel of juice, but I kept my safeguards in mind with the teethy ones, and I always had a good landing spot in mind with Sparky. :lightning

In addition to CDC advisories, its' good to check with animal rescue authorities. People will "rescue orphaned" Blue Jay fledglings found under a bush in a yard, when the truth is that the parents spread the half-grown birds around like that intentionally, but still care for them.

How cute! I had one for a pet a while ago..we had found him in the backyard..his mother must of left him or something..cause he was all alone..mother never came back to claim him, so i raised him. named him Teddy when he got bigger i would put a small leash on him and take him out for walks and to collect acorns for the winter..he then would take them into his cage and hide them..it was so cute. when he got bigger and older he became very destructive and eventually he went out and never came home again..i think he found a girlfriend.
