I am the proud owner of OK Scupper Pro TW! It is the sunrise color. I have 2 handles, extra straps buckles harness and a few strap eyes riveted to it so I can secure the sive gears.

I picked a padle that allow 4 ways modification. It allow the paddles to be replaced without having to buy the whole paddle. And it is light. Graphite handle pole.

Any suggestion on securing your paddle while you dive? Since mine can disassemble into 4 parts and stow it under the hatch, I may do that. But if securing it with velcro straps with string attached to kayak is OK, I may do that instead.

I plan to tie the anchor line to the front of the kayak and have 2 strap eyes riveted on both top sides of the nose. Would be interested to hear what kind and weight of anchor you all are using. Is 9 feet chain size 1/4" good enough? What is the size of the anchor line you would recomend?

I have a 6 ft chain and a spool of 100' of line that I use. I think I am using a 5lb folding anchor.

I use a paddle leash to secure the paddle to the yak.

Hmm, I have a 3 lb grapple anchor that folds up. I use a fairly small line and no chain but the bottom few feet is a heavier lineI have a clip on my anchor line so I can clip it off underwater to something like a wreck. I generally tow the kayak and occasionally don't use the anchor but instead a reel. If I do anchor, I often carry the anchor as I drift using my BC to counter it, sometimes clipped to a D-ring. I don't like leaving the anchor more than a few feet if I am further from shore than I can comfortably swim! Be careful not to damage marine life with that anchor. I may not drop the anchor if I cannot see it in the clear, I carry it down with me instead. Your situation probably is different. I really don't have this anchor thing down yet anyway--still figuring on it as you can probably tell.

I would use a paddle leash which is a nylon string with a shock bungee that clips to the kayak and to the paddle. If you loose that paddle you are in deep trouble!!!!

Use shock bungees on everything so the direct impact is not felt by the attach points on the 'yak.

I love my Scupper TW, you will find it likes to have some weight up front, like another tank! N

I had a Scupper Pro, I think it was an XP. It was for diving and I used it for several yrs. until someone wanted it more than myself. Anyway I carried a 3 pound folding anchor but stopped using it as I discovered that I could tie my yak to the kelp and it was always there when I got back. I did however stop using tanks and took up free diving at the edge of the kelp stands. I loved it as I could put it in the water acrossed the street from my apt. and the kelp was a 2 mile paddle down the coast. Lots of fun.

This is great to hear! I was wondering about this last week as I floated on the offshore side of the kelp beds around Flat Rock. Thanks for the tip! So....what's your next 'yak going to be....hmmmmm?

HB divegirl, I have been thinking and I have to say that if I do it again I will look for another OK boat. I have looked at the offerings from OK and I seem to like the Scrambler series or possibly a Prowler 13. They look stable and easy to board in water.
