I assume then america hasnt discovered DIN-convertible tank inserts which have been used in the rest of the world for over a decade?
Eliminates the need for adaptors and same tank will work both on DIN and Dinosaur.

Take a close look,

The regs are DIN with Yoke adapters. The reason behind this, is so that they get used to the rental tanks that they will use in Florida. Not everyone is ready to buy their own tanks right out of OW training. During advanced class, the adapters come off, and they use strictly DIN. You have to expose them to stuff that they will find out in the field.

As far as the hoses, that is the training / rental gear that I have. It is OK for training, but would obviously be tweaked for ownership.

Next week I'm putting the kid on a MEG and an X-scooter! :eyebrow: (Just kidding...)

Safe Diving all,

Nice pics, Mike. How long until he grows into that necklace? :P

You assume wrong.

String, its a cultural difference. You know, like your penchant for driving on the other side the road than we do, or the need to spell words with an extra "u" thrown in for good measure. ;)

This family is from Florida, its likely that most of their dives with be with recreational charters in places like Florida, the Bahamas, Mexico, or the Caribbean and that means diving with the ubiquitous AL80s with A-clamp valves (e.g. "tanks and weights included").

If they are going to buy their own tanks then, sure, convertible valves are a good idea... But unless they are only going to dive where they can drive those tanks to, those A-clamp regs are going to turn out to be mighty useful.

FWIW, I personally dive two DIN regs and finally got tired of that DIN adapter for yoke valves and bought another A-clamp first stage for just such occasions.
