I'm a Fish!
Hi gang,

Here is a pic of one of my students. He is 13 years old and swims like a little seal. He passed all his CW skills like a natural. After 20 minutes on his first dive, he was doing helicopter kicks and maintaining horizontal trim.

I started him in a soft BP harness + wing from day one. Full NTEC configuration, including a analog depth gauge on his wrist. Clipped off SPG with no console. A better 13 year old diver I have never seen. I will upload pics of him hovering and frogkicking next time we go to the lake.

I will have to shorten the hoses and neck lanyard first though..... :-)

He's at the point where he can calculate rock bottom turn pressure on the fly, and does so before every dive.

Start them young guys, start them young and teach them right......

Safe Diving all, :D

Very cool Mike!

Awesome that you start your students out in a bp/w! I think it's cool that instructors will take extra time with students at a young age, I know my OW instructor went out of his way to assist me when I started at 11.

Just ditch the A-clamp regs as well and it'll be great :)

The reverse MOF is very cool! :D

I think Mom could use a shorter inflation LP hose as well. ;)

AL80s, AL63s, etc. with the yoke valves really are ubiquitous around here. Dealing with a DIN reg and the yoke converter (which moves the first stage closer to the back of your head) isn't actually as promising as it might seem at first. This youngster will be fine with A-clamp regs for the near future, at least for the next three years.

Right on Mike! I just wish I had someone teaching me the NTEC route (if it had officially existed) when I took my OW course at 11.
