It's weird because she never told me this before and she repeats her stories all the time. Maybe she was embarrassed about it.
She used to work as a medical technician in a hospital drawing blood on the patients. People were always complaining to her that the needle hurt so she would look for ways to get around it. She walked into one guy's room and he was sleeping, so she thought to herself "OK, I can get his blood while he's sleeping so he won't complain." So she cuffs off his arm, the vein pops up, and she sticks the needle in. No blood. This is weird so she calls her supervisor. Turns out the guy was dead.
:rofl3:

Didn't she notice that the body was cold, and possibly pooled or even riggored? LOL I'm thinking that should have been a bit obvious!!! LOL Maybe she was embarressed! Good grief! LOL :)

:rofl3: :rofl3: I know. I mean, besides all that, wouldn't she notice that he wasn't breathing? In her defense, she had only been on the job for a week or so, so she was still kind of nervous about getting the blood on the first attempt.

he he. Thats the the Filapina nurse that calls the surgeon in the middle the night and says "patient not Bweeding".

and he said "that's good, he shouldn't be bleeding" and then after a few exchanges, he sits up and says OH! not breathing!!!

I rolled over and went back to sleep, it wasn't my beeper.

technically speaking, drawing blood from a sleeping patient is battery and not legal, I think. Comatose okay. implied consent?

All I have to say is even if I went to give blood, fell asleep while waiting for someone, and woke up with a needle in my arm,.. I would be very upset. That is unacceptable.

I understand that this is the joke forum,.. but that's just not right.

I hope you didn't watch House last night.

Wayward Son:
I taped House, haven't watched it yet.
You'll like it. It was a good one. Makes my poor mom look like a saint. But then again, anyone looks like a saint compared to him.

My question about the original post is why the vein would 'pop up' if there is no blood pressure to make it do so...

I don't know. Maybe my mom remembers wrong? This happened about 40 years ago.
