My M1's adjust knob is fixed!

I had a brand new M1 with 6 dives on it. The rapid adjust knob on the second stage would not rotate back in more than one turn. The tech took it apart and just lubed the threads(plastic on Plastic) and changed the o ring just for safety and everything is fine. He has no explanation why it was so hard to turn....He could not find anything wrong. Now everything is working great and NO Charge!!
