Here is some of the video footage I shot over the weekend, diving with the Canon HG21, Ikelite housing for the first time. I know it is a bit long, but I wanted to be sure to check out performance at different depths and conditions.

The first day vis was okay at surface and at the bottom (60-80') however mid-water was a bit murky. Down at the bottom it is always pretty dark as the opening to Blue Hole at the surface is smaller than the actual hole itself. With the murkiness mid-water, it also blocked out alot of light. I was amazed at how clear the video is for that depth with so little light. I didn't take in my video lights on purpose just to see results. At my safety stop at 15' depth, I watched the goldfish and that video footage came out very nice and clear. No white balancing or adjustments, this is footage as it was shot.

The second day the vis was horrible no matter where you were in the water column. On the bottom was like a night dive but the camcorder still was able to focus and record some decent footage. Mid-water you can see the crap in the water and at times the camcorder wanted to focus on that instead of the divers. I had to be positioned just right to get the footage of the students doing skills otherwise it went out of focus instantly.

anyhow, I am very pleased with the footage although I didn't get as much as I had hoped due to the crowds and poor vis. Maybe next time!

Thanks for sharing! I can only wish we had vis that good in our local quarry but any day we get 20 ft or so we are lucky.

So now that you are shooting in HD, what editing software are you using? I just ordered Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 Platinum Pro pack. I looked at some others but since I am use to the Vegas stuff, I decided to stick with that.
