Here is my problem. My brother is currently overseas for the Army, and is planning on getting scuba certified when he gets back. I am also in the Army and will be stationed at Aberdeen, MD for a military school. I will only be there for five months, but I have no idea where I'll be after that. Getting to my question now. My brother is planning on getting his AOW by the time I'm ready to leave MD, and we would like to go to a place that has excelent diving, is somewhat out of the way but not primitive, and be able to enjoy the topside when we are not diving. Normally, this wouldn't be too hard to find to please my brother and myself. However, my wife will be coming along and she is NOT scuba certified and has no interest in scuba diving whatsoever (medical condition could prevent her from diving too). She does not want to be stuck wandering the streets of St. Somewhere alone while my brother and I are diving - she wants an "all inclusive" resort somewhere. I don't really want to go anywhere that a large number of cruise ships go, to avoide the "cookie cutter" dives that cruise ship divers get. My wife has made it clear she does not want to go on a live-aboard where she will be bored, and she doesn't want to share a bathroom with anyone. I'm getting frustrated and was about to tell her she didn't have to go along, but I know that wouldn't be a smart move on my part. Does anyone have any suggestions that could possibly meet all those requirements?

My best bet would be Barbados. They are having a lot of great deals right now and they were not effected by the storms or big wave.
There is a ton of stuff to do above the water. The diving is not fantastic like Bonaire....but on Bonaire if you dont dive...you are BORED.

Other places would be closer....its just in what are you looking for.

Easy . . . Cozumel.

My brother and I are leaning towards Cozumel, but we are still open to suggestions!

firebrand,
do some research on aruba.
the diving is different than cozumel but the topside attractions might appeal to your wife more.
then you and your brother can dive with clive.
one good op.
regards,

We're actually heading there on a cruise this summer. I will be doing a two-tank dive while she explores topside! My brother is wanting to go somewhere neither of us has been before. Check out my countdown timer! Thanks for the great suggestion though! I know I'm being difficult, so I appologize for that.

As cheesy as this sounds, I'm going through the shore excursion put together by Carnival Cruise lines. I don't know which charter they're using. I've heard LOTS of great things about Clive. I'll check out his site and compare prices, dive times, and such to make my decision. The last thing I really want to do though, is to dive with resort-course divers who don't know that much about it. I'd rather dive with someone who doesn't have to be babysitted by the DM.

I haven't yet, but I'd like to!
