Scuba Diver Dies on Lake Muskoka

A Willow Beach woman is dead after her ran out of air in her scuba diving tank.

Forty-seven-year-old Anna Kim Davies was diving with a friend on Lake Muskoka when she ran out of air and sunk to the bottom of the lake. Davies body was recovered a short time later and was transported to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem was held yesterday in Toronto but police have yet to release the results.

A very unfortunate event. My condolences to family and friends...

I sure hate hearing about these things and it sure hits a deeper spot when it is in Ontario. Very unfortunate indeed.

She was in the water 5 minutes and ran out of air? either a free flowing reg, or maybe a hose problem.. but where was her husband at? He has the backup air.

She sunk to the bottom too, so obviously negative. Maybe she had no air in her tank to begin with? or too much weight? A defective BC?

I guess there just isn't enough information to guess what the problem might have been.

Sad, very sad..

I concur - there is more to this than it appears, I guess.

A note though - if she were to inhale water, then she may very well have been properly weighted. It's just that she would have lost her primary source of bouyancy (lungs) and thus, sank.

That was my dad's girlfriend who died, he was with her as well. I didn't really know her very well, although she made very good home-made pizza. I remember my dad telling me about this site, so i came here to find some more information about what happened. He only said that they got seperated.
I just felt i should post here to thank you all for all the condolances, i'm sure my dad will appreciate it.

WMCM please pass our condolences on to your father. I am sure he won't want to log on to the Scubaboard and find all sorts of speculation about what may or may not have happened and what could or could not have helped. If you can, post any information so we don't get caught up in the speculation.

Again, sorry for your loss.

my condolesents to you and your dad..to others lets not assume that this happened or that happened for once..this isnt about that.. its about offering our thoughts and prayers to the family of the lost diver..lets keep this on track for once..

I think the primary purpose of this forum is to understand what happened and look for ways to prevent it in the future (if that is possible). It's very sad when someone dies or is injured, but we should be trying to understand exactly what happened not all getting religious and passing on condolences all the time. There is no purpose to that for discussion.

In my opinion, the "getting off track" is all the condolences. Sorry, but that's how I feel about it.

Someone died here, likely (highly likely) it was preventable. Maybe understanding how it happened will save the next guy/girl.
