A federal court in Los Angeles has ruled that the defamation suit by cave explorer Unsworth against Elon Musk can go forward. Unsworth was a participant in the cave diving rescue of the Thai soccer team last year who criticized Musk's submarine-building operation as a PR stunt, which in turn led to Musk lashing out at him and calling him a "pedo guy" on twitter. Now a jury trial is set for December 3.

Elon Musk Ordered to Stand Trial in Cave Explorer’s Defamation Case

Will the diver have deep enough pockets to actually fight Musk?

It seems like if Musk has two neurons to rub together for light, he'll see that he ought to be getting out from under the publicity of this instead of fighting it.

Ego may keep those two neurons to ever coming in contact.

Since Musk, who, according to an interview or two, believes that the human race is experiencing some sort of Matrix-related artificial reality, he shouldn't take anything too seriously.

Pipe down, copper-top . . .

So glad to hear that this is proceeding.

Given the judges determination that Mr Unsworth is a private citizen (which lowers the bar for defamation) I would hope that this is pretty much an open and shut case. It is open record of the defamatory comments and the fact that he doubled down on them (Musk did not just say this once).

How on earth did Musk manage to win?

That is, if Musk hasn't already blown his neural wad on blotter acid . . .

Maybe someone knows how to upload a copy of the court's judgment. That would answer the question.
