Lucky me - a cheap airfair gives me a week stopover in Mauritius in February. I'm interested in getting recommendations or warnings about dive operators on the island. I'll be renting gear, and Nitrox would be nice but not essential.

If you can correct the typo in the subject line it might help for those searching. I've thought Mauritius would be an interesting place to dive so I hope you'll post a report after you get back.

Have heard from others who've been that Mauritius is not great for diving. The diving on Isla Rodrigues, to the east of it, is much better.

Do both and see!

I might just do that if I'm not feeling too lazy when I get there :)

At the moment it looks like I'll initially be at Trou Aux Biches where I have located and confirmed cheap-yet-recommended accomodation and seems to be the hub of dive activity on the island.

stub,
If yo do not organise it in advance you will not go to Rodrigues. It is 600km away, it is not a short day-trip by boat. And there are not so much planes per day, + these are really small (ATR42).
Otherwise, I love this island.
