Its really hard to do multiple back to back 60ft plus dives at Catalina nevermind 5 in a row. Most of the interesting things for many sites are shallow and you end up spending a significant amount of time above 50ft. You can pretty easily do 2-3-5 on top of that. If this were a "non-DIR" charter, by dive 3 or 4 most of the divers would have so much "residual nitrogen" that they couldn't dive. Operators understand this and don't drop you repeatably onto 100ft sites. If you hit 100ft more than twice I would be surprised.

My understanding is that we won't be diving Catalina, but some of the other Channel Islands, and in particular some deeper and more challenging sites (given the population of divers on the boat, and that was the goal).

So any report on what the profiles were like? :blinking:

The diving was fun -- extreme fun. The profiles were generally pretty benign with nothing (for me) deeper than 99 feet (and that only once). There were three basic dives -- relatively square profile, down the anchor line to a ledge, out and back and up the anchor line (60 minutes, max 85 feet m/l); drop down on a wall to 85 feet and work way up to the top of the wall at 30 feet and then up; SCOOT and just go up, down, sideways through the kelp.

After the 5th dive of the day, my ears were pretty trashed -- thank goodness for Vitamin I!

Nice I wish we had Catalina kelp to play in sometimes.
I assume means no 5x 100ft square profiles in a day with 60min SIs then?
