While catching up on my reading of P.A.D.I.'S "Undersea Journal" ( 2nd qtr. 08' ) I came upon an article detailing the availability of the "Manually Triggered Resucitator Valve" ( MTRV) for lay-person response.
As a Firefighter / Paramedic / Diver-Medic, I have concerns with this device. We have not had powered resucitators in use for many years now as the BVM provides an excellent replacement. While the company claims the possibility of accidental lung overinflation has been engineered out, it does not address the issue of compliance - a critical aspect of ventillation.
