Dove Mt Storm, WV Saturday. This was my first dive in WV and my first altitude dive. We arrived Fri night and checked out the water temp -> 63F. Beaver footprints could be seen in the snow and a big splash could be heard near the water's edge.

We dove Sat morning. A class was in the parking lot assembling for their dive. Overall, I thought the dive site was fun - especially the ride up and down. There was easy navigation due to well placed ropes. As evidence of the beavers, there were several eaten clam shells scattered over the bottom. Catfish galore, but not large. I rode the motorcycle the near a platform in fairly shallow water and saw the santa statue at approximately 100' on another platform.

Hello AlaskaDiver,

Glad to hear you enjoyed your dive at Mt. Storm. I live fairly close to Storm so I dive it pretty often. I was actually there the weekend before last. On a day when there hasn't been any major wind or rain and if you hit it after the students or before the viz can be alright, w/ 15' being considered a good average.

Glad you had a good time, both of you guys need to checkout the other threads in this forum.

I have been wondering about the water temps. at the Storm. I dove there quite a bit this season but haven't been since Oct. Mid-Atlantic Darkwater Diver - ScubaToys Diving Forum

Thanks for the info. and I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. Depending on the weather there may be a few of the Darkwater Divers meet there for a New Years Day dive.

Wow...all the way from Alaska. That's pretty cool. Were you just vacationing or are you sticking around for a while? There's also an Indian head at about 40 feet on the way to the 50 foot platform.
