Has anyone been to Storm recently? Just wondering if the powerplant is fired up and warming up the waters.
For those who are still interested in diving, I plan on using a cheap sea kayak to dive from, "Boat Diving"
Anyone know the temperatures? I'm looking to get wet.

Have not heard of anyone who went down lately. Make sure the kayak has all the current registration. Have no idea how DNR is going to be. And if they will get pissy about an unattended boat on the surface while you are down.

Thank you I will. I will also have a dive flag attached to my kayak. I will give DNR a call and make sure they have no problem with my kayak and diving.

I hope you'll post back here about your experience, as we're all trying to figure out how this is really going to work (or not). Good luck.

I called Distirct 2 WV DNR and spoke to them about diving from a boat. They stated, "It did not matter what type of boat it was, I could Scuba dive as long as it was from a boat". The Dept. of DNR said that they deal with the boat access area and that the area around the lake was also personal property of those who own the land. As long as I had permission from the Land owners I could enter the lake however and dive. So for now I plan to use a sea kayak and do some warm water diving. Nothing like floating on a kayak while I'm taking my surface interval. I might get 2 kayaks so if anyone else is interested come join me!

Went Diving at Mt.Storm for Memorial Day. I used a inexpensive sit-on-top Kayak and had no problems with DNR, even when I anchored right off the shoreline at the Divers entrance. The water temp. was 80 degrees and the Visibilty was 12 feet. The only bad part was all the bouys at the dive platforms had been cut, So we had to anchored at the 15 foot safety stop. Overall it was a beautiful day at Storm. While I was down I cleared all fishing line and hooks off of the platforms and dive lines. I plan making more dives as the water warms up, and by the way Both stack were running.

Wow, that sounds pretty final. :(

Thanks for the report, and your efforts at site maintenance. I hope you'll post again each time you go, to keep us apprised of how that whole situation is evolving.
