Anyone interested in diving Mt. Storm on or closely after March 18? I live very near by and have a few logged dives there but am looking for a dive master familiar w/ Mt. Storm. I would be interested in making it a social event if enough people are interested.

I'm in. Not a divemaster by far, but always up for a dive up there. In fact, may be up there tomorrow. My dive buddy is quite familiar with the lake and would likely be up for it as well.

BTW, if you have not been there for a while, last time I was there, about three weeks ago, water was in the low 40's, high 30's at depth. Just to let you know so you'll be prepared.

Went up today. Typical Mt. Storm blizzard like conditions. Air was 28, water around 40 @ the surface. Most likely will be there next week. Post what time you are going.

Did you all dive w/ dry suits? I am trying to decide what equip. to bring. I would like to come up on Sat. it is only 1.5 hr. from my house. I would be extremely interested in joining up with a group that dives there reg.

I dove in a 3 mil one piece, my dive buddy was in a 7 mil two piece. Our drysuits are on order, so we only have our wetsuits. I was fine, hands did get cold with only reef gloves on. My dive buddy started getting cold towards the end of the dive. We were in the water for around 40 minutes. Getting out was the worst part by far. Here are a couple pics to show what is was like. First one are me, the very last is my dive buddy after getting out of the water.

As far as what you should bring, I guess it depends how well you can take the cold water. It will be in the low 40's at best, expect high 30's at depth. Vis was good though.

Also, if you decide to venture out, post a time so we can coordinate. Hope to see ya up there. BTW, I am about an hour away in Romney.

Dry suits on order? I would love one but having a hard time choking up the $800-1500. I am starting to be a real gear junkie, so what is new! I have some new equip. for Belize that I would like to do a check-out dive with before I take it with me. I am just praying for warmer weather this weekend...need to check TWC.

I wouldn't hold my breath for better conditions. Well, maybe the weather will be alittle better, but water will still be COLD. Your weather conditions are probably similar being up at Snowshoe. I am a low lander as far as WV is concerned.lol

I am in the same boat, coughing up that kind of money for a piece of dive equipment. Fortunately, I am a new addition to my county's dive team, so it is free to me as long as I am an active member.

I would be a gear junkie if I was so damned addicted to saltwater fish tanks. I thought diving was expensive, try setting up a SW tank. Bye bye bank account. Its all good though. Gotta live, aye? Hope to see you up there. We will probably shoot for around 1 or 2 pm, but will let you know later in the week for sure. Talk to you later.
Chad

BTW, if you are not too sensitive to the cold, you should be fine in a 7 mil. wetsuit. I dive in a 3 mil., but I am very warm natured.
