I hate to drag this thread back...But I have some questions...

Alcina: how was your wedding? Where did you go, etc...

H2O: where did you go for your reception wedding..

Anyone out there have any information regarding Playa Mia..Im in the VERY early stages of planning my pre-planning wedding-dive trip...We are trying to arrange details now for scoping places out in May or June for a May 08 wedding I know its early, but Im in school, blah blah blah..so the story goes....

Any info would be great

Trust me...you DO NOT want to do your wedding at Playa Mia!

Becky -

I am swamped with trying to catch up with things but all I can say is WOW! We had the best time - a perfect day (despite the rain that fell on the groom & men delaying their departure from hotel to ceremony site...it never came near the bride!), Stephanie really came through and the setting was gorgeous.

I can highly highly recommend Stephanie (www.cozumelweddingplanner.com) and the Wedding Garden. I didn't like the feel of the beach club (mr sanchos) itself for my reception and another bride talked to who had her reception there earlier in the week said the bugs were horrendously bad.

We had our reception at Casa Mission and I can't think of a better place to have it. It was picture perfect.

I haven't had time to go through many photos yet, but here are a couple - stay tuned for more photos and more information as I get my stuff organized: (btw - these are all from compact digital cameras with no psing done...the colours on the day were stunning!)

Here's me with the arch:

Please ask any questions at all - there are a trillion details I didn't think of beforehand - either here or email me kristin@oceansbyanderson.com

Congratulations btw!!

I'll second the recommendation for Stephanie and the wedding garden... If you recall we had our reception at Especias in July. Our whole party was less than 15 though. If you have a bigger party definitely pick a bigger restaurant :D

Yes, I do recall :) I really want to have access to a pool..I know that sounds weird..I'd actually like the reception outside by a pool, thats why I liked playa mia...I may just end up at LaCococay...as long as they have the crusted fish stuff !!! :)

As far as I know, they can do anything from small intimate groups to large affairs. We had about 25ish and it was perfect under the palapa. This could be reconfigured for smaller or larger groups, I'm sure.

Here are some shots from our recon mission in July - early evening shots.

The palapa we had privately

We didn't take advantage of the surrounds for photos as we were too busy with guests and the person we had taking photos wasn't terribly proactive in making sure we got the shots we should have gotten. But there are tremendous opportunities there if you want them and it's just stunning to look at.

The food and service are wonderful. Their trio is FANTASTIC. We hired them to play prior to our ceremony out at the wedding garden and everyone raved. They also played us out for the walk back up the aisle. It was gorgeous. They then played for us at the restaurant - they rove around the entire place so it was a perfect mix of ambiance and our own music for dancing and conversing.

Hmmm, you sure you didn't have Fred (our neighbor and photographer) taking pics for you too?

I must say, Casa Mission looks awesome. Very picturesque. I think you had a better day as far as colors, ours was a very grey day. Keep the pics coming! ;)
