So I’m living in southwest Florida now. I realize that diving on the East Coast is much better. I’m looking for operators that I can go out on dives with from Fort Lauderdale and close by. I’m in Naples, Key Largo is about two hours from me, so the keys are an option.

Who are the best diver operators you’ve been out with in these areas?

Depending on what you are looking for: Key Largo area-> Rainbow Reef, Horizon Divers, Conch Republic all enjoy good reputations.

East side is a long drive, but Tampa /Clearwater has some great dives too. Give 2sheacharters.com a chance, TJ is really good.

Welcome! I'm just north of you in Bonita Springs. You have Key Largo, Ft. Lauderdale, Pompano Beach and all of Palm Beach County from Boca Raton north to Jupiter at your fingertips!! I try to head over to Palm Beach County one weekend a month to dive. I'm typically diving in Jupiter, Palm Beach/Riviera Beach or Boynton Beach. Ft. Lauderdale is a good option but the diving is better up in Palm Beach County. I will sometimes use Ft. Lauderdale when I want an easy day trip over and back the same day.

Be sure and check out the many dive reports and diving threads in the Florida forum. Many local and some traveling divers post dive reports there that you can learn from.

If you want specifically the FLL area, try AquaLife Divers. Personally, I prefer WPB and Jupiter.

Quiescence in Key Largo. They take out 6 divers at a time. You must arrange for the other divers--you pay for the boat.

West Palm Beach/Riviera Beach: Pura Vida, Jupiter Dive Center
Miami: Diver's Paradise
Key Largo: Rainbow Reef, Horizon Divers
Fort Lauderdale: DXDivers

Very good options! I'd also add Sea Experience in Ft Lauderdale, Narcosis and Walkers in West Palm Beach/Riviera Beach, and Kyalami (Jupiter Scuba Diving) in Jupiter.

If you want to give SWFL a try, this is the only "traditional" scuba charter I am aware of in our area (Ft Myers to Naples). Scuba Marco and their dive boat the Psyquatic.

There are other fishing-focused charters (spear and line) that also take divers out on occasion, but their boats are on the "rustic" side and are not traditional dive charter boats.
