Anyway, I was thinking of a left mounted octo at the time too, based on some commentary in the British "Diver" mag. I think the S bend thing is a good argument, because I find in drills that valuable time is spent making sure of the octo's orientation. Still, it's a valid point to ask what you'd do if you yourself had to use the octo -- you'd have the S bend problem yourself. My solution to this is to use a side exhaust octo (an Aqualung LPO). One less thing to think about.
I haven't actually changed my two regs on the right setup yet though.
