So the deep dive got me thinking about this, where was the most beautiful dive you ever made? Some people are gifted with having been so many places it may be hard to select one. For me it was the ocean side of Eleuthra Island in the Bahamas, followed by a place near San Salvador Island. Both beat Roatan by a mile. The reef off Eleauthra was so good after diving and only having one tank I spent the rest of the day just freediving it.

wow ... tough question

now, what i "remember" as the most beautiful dive is probably based not just on the dive, but on my mood that day, and on the conditions, or whatever ... so ... with that disclaimer

i think the most beautiful dive i've ever been on were the Japanese Gardens in Grand Cayman

i was new to diving, so things were very striking, and the canyons and dramatic coral formations, along with the gizillions of fish just blew my mind ... not to mention you could see for eight thousand yards or so ...

Wow . . . It's so hard to choose. There was the school of caramel and black butterflyfish in Australia . . . or the gold and red crinoids in the shallows in Indonesia . . . or the ethereal drift dive through Dodd's Narrows in British Columbia.

But I'd have to say the single most beautiful dive I've done was the cavern tour in Dos Ojos. The decorations and limestone formations were utterly stunning, and the ambience of light within the surrounding darkness was romantic and magical. The caves just aren't like anything else.

Probably Menjangen Wall in Bali ... which, ironically, I won't be returning to on my upcoming trip to Indonesia (too many other places to go see) ...

WOW, I wouldn't know where to start. My first dive was in a reservoir when the water was high and I was essentially diving in a flooded forest in full foliage. I thought that was pretty cool. Some of out local fish watching dives are really neat. It's hard to beat the view you get from down stream cow springs looking into the basin when the light is just right...or the ceiling back by olsens window in Peacock or the view of a wreck sprawled out in front of you as you descend onto it or the...well you get the idea. I don't think I could pick one.

We were diving the wall in Grand Cayman...not sure exactly where but the operation had taken us to a spot where there wasn't another boat in sight. The water was exceptionally clear that day as we swam through the massive formations and swim throughs. We exited a very long tube through a large blue hole at 107fsw, and I found myself out over the dark abyss. I rolled over to look back at the wall, and this moment in time will be frozen forever in my memory:

Suspended out over the abyss, 107fsw, looking back at the wall. The vis was gin clear. I could easily see the boat on the surface and at least 200' in either direction. The coral formations and sponges were massive. The schools of fish were like clouds. I just floated there, taking in as much as I could at the time.

Amazing...beautiful....spiritual......
