OK, finally got to use my new Mosquito during the weekend, and now a bit confused about the logbook function.

Basically the log showed two dives, while in fact this is what happened:

I went down for about 15 minutes, but current was too strong so we surfaced.

After about five minutes of surface interval (moving to another nearby site), I went down again and stayed for 30 minutes.

The log showed the number of dives as two, but there is only one dive record found, with 45 minutes of total bottom time. This doesn't look right. If the number of dives is two, how come there is only one dive record in the memory, with a combined total bottom time?

I read the manual over and over again and I'm quite sure I did everything right. But when I tried to scroll to the first dive in the log, the record was just not there.

Has anybody experienced this before? Have I missed something?

HELP!!

I'm confused. Where are you seeing the two dives, and where are you seeing the one dive? Do you mean there are two dives in the log one for 15 and one for 30, and there is one when you download?

Are you sure you are looking at Mem->Log as opposed to Mem->History? [Terms might be different as I have a stinger].

Now I've had many a time where I came back to the surface. If it's under about 5 minutes, the bottom timer starts back up when I enter. If I'm on the surface longer, it records two dives [and gets really pissed at me for such a short SI!

A little better explination might help us figure out what you mean.

You're terms are correct. That's what applies to my Vytec as well.

I was definitely looking at Mem>log.

It was said in the manual that the first page of the log shows the dive number in the dive series. When I go to Mem>Log, the number shown is -02, which I think means that I'm looking at the logbook entry for the second dive in my dive series.

So I scroll to the last page, and I should be able to switch to teh previous dive (dive -01) by pressing the (-) button. However, when I press the button, all that came up was a blank screen with the word "end". The same screen came up when I press the (+) button.

Am I doing the right thing? If there are two dives logged as the dive number indicated, shouldn't I be able to see the logbook entry for the first dive then I press the (-) button?

I hope I've explained it better this time.

I wonder if the computer didn't take into account the 5 minutes surface interval and logged everything into one dive. If this is the case, shouldn't the dive number show -01 instead?

Thanks beforehand.

*chuckle* That through me for a loop for a while....

That "-02" at the top is the year...

The dive number is the "D 1" at the bottom left. :)

this is sooooo embarassing.... I know I'm a dumb rookie but I thought I had some sort of intelligence. obviously NOT :D :D ;-0 ;-0

Well thanks anyway Spectre. Looks like my problem's solved.

(psssttt... must admit that falling off my chair laughing was very unbecoming of a proper young lady like me :out: )

No embarrasment needed. Like I alluded to, it had me going for a while, but I just ignored it with the curious passing thought every so often of 'I wonder what that damn -02 is?'. I finally got ambitious and starting digging.

I tend to have that effect sometimes, however it usually isn't the response I was looking for ;)
