Hello

Plenty of fish are now gathering around the Morrison wreck in Barrie, but the vis is still some what poor. I suggest waiting another month or so when the algae die completely makeing it a great simple close shore dive.

The sub guy

I was up there just this past Sunday and there were pleny O fish about!
I was up there at the beggining of Sept too and I thought there were a lot of fishies swimming about, but last weekend proved there are even more now! Schools of Tiger Perch and it looks like some of the bigger fish are hanging around there now.
There are still plenty of divers going there so the vis was still kinda poor but still a good dive. I think the water temps were about 68F - no hood just gloves. Even saw some of the fish feeding on some part of another fish - or what was left of another fish:D

Hi

Yes the water has been piss warm and its not from the discharge pipes either. Perhaps I may take my sub down on her for a fun run next week.

I just finished a scooter dive on the Morrison recently and was disgusted to see that someone has strung lines all over the wreck. It looks like a tec course gone bad with their line tied onto a large area of the wreck. Please keep you lines on your reels and off the wreck. You are not supposed to be touching the wreck, let alone wrap your lines all over it............have some common sense people.:doctor:

Hi Extreme

I agree, looks like we have some one who never learned to use a compass. I don't mind the line out to the wreck from shore, but I WILL BE CUTTING ALL THAT LINE OFF THE WRECK IT SELF NEXT TIME OUT. I figure its just some scuby doo PADI instructor who has claimed the wreck as his own. The last time I saw line like that all over a wreck was on a wrecked fishing schooner I dove on off Newfoundland. The Morrison is no place to be laying usless line for every one to get fouled up in, beside it a simple wreck to get to and around.

When I was there last weekend for some reason there were people doing the dive from a boat:confused:
Don't know why as it is an easy shore dive - but the big this was their anchor line was practically ON the wreck!!!
Not good:upset:

Hi

Yes! your correct about boat anchoring, at one time the anchored line for the Morrison was off to the side of the wreck some distance but some genius has tide it directly to the remainder of the fragile bow so any would be anchorer would be in direct line of dropping his/her anchor directly on the wreck. I guess this will be another project to correct, and If its not chained and locked people always mess it up.

Dove the Morrison today and I personally took care of the line. Damn there was a lot of it on the wreck. Took me about 20 minutes to get it all. Cut the line every 2 feet so that no divers would get tangled by it. I never seen something so dangerous in my life. If somebody did not know it was there they could of easily got tangled by it.
