I would guess the first colony is called porites sp. The second is a non-photosynthetic colony, this spelling is wrong, but something like dendrophylia sp. These don't have the symbiotic algea needed for photosynthesis and therefore only feed on reef snow(plankton, detritus, etc)

Thanks, I live in brisbane so I'll be diving the reef a lot in future. Brisbane has got some great diving in the Moreton Bay marine park. In fact I've seen a lot more fish species in the bay than on the GBR. The best dive I have done so far (I've only done 13 so far) was at Flat Rock of North Stradbroke Island which is not too far from me, and we have humpbacks migrating through the bay from May to November so I'm pretty spoilt really!
