My company has booked the resort from Feb 2-7. I do believe we have the entire property (3000 attendees) so there is very little to offer any diving op. I have a couple of nights free and I know my liver would appreciate me diving rather than drinking.

Looking for any first hand knowledge if there is any chance of a shore dive. I am trying to set up some night dives with a Cancun or PM op but am willing to do one at the resort if it won't completely suck.

Us I/T guys never get to go on those "retreats" with the CRA's and others....:(

I'd let you have my spot in a second. Locked inside from 8am to 4 pm each day battling whatever urges my ADD presents is no "retreat". It's cruel to fly us down to a tropical location and occupy almost all daylight hours so we can't enjoy it. There is also a "no spouse" policy so I am already in the doghouse.

I will be replaying every dive in Cozumel over and over in my mind for these 4 days.

Cheers,

Jason

Seriously, not even 1/2 day off from the grind to actually enjoy yourself? Somebody needs to rethink things. I'd be ticked.

It is actually quite hilarious to see a bunch of generally quiet and respectable pharmacy owners and managers go to a all-you-can-drink night event, especially after spending 8 hours in lectures and workshops. It's a lot like watching first year university students hit the bars at the start of the year.

I would have thought that they could have done some mid-afternoon and early evening lectures to give us the morning to dive, recover from the hangover, enjoy the beach, etc.

If nothing else develops I will be night snorkelling - I can't afford to go to the night events. No spouses allowed ... I am happily married and really want to keep it that way.

Cheers,

Jason

I hear ya, bud. All our off-site "retreats" are the same. No spouses, 8:30 to 5:30 and it blows.

I would at least try to get in a night dive. Problem is with most shops, they usually only do one a week....I guess night snorkeling would work on a shallow reef.

I can tell you though, when our company forks out for a retreat, those guys have plenty of time to play. It's just us subservient types that get worked to death. Honestly, I haven't gone on the last three retreats. Less hassle working when everyone else is "enjoying" themselves. Hope you have a good time regardless!

Stayed at Moon Palace a few years back and it was very nice. I'm sure you'll have a good time even if the scheduler should be shot!

Moon Palace is a big and beautiful resort. I stayed there one and half year ago and resort map is still sitting on my office desk.

I remembered while snorkeling outside of hotel, I saw all kinds of fishes, and even pick up a sea star with my daughter. I participated in resort's snorkeling trip and that was the first time I tried scuba. I was immediately hooked and after returning to US, I signed on scuba classes and have been enjoying scuba ever since.
