Hope you can join us at Jake's Sports Bar at 2944 Chimney Rock for our February 18th meeting. The meeting starts at 7:30 pm but we'll be schooling as early as 6:30. Feel free to come by and have a drink - or two - and mingle. They have a private room in the back for us so just head back there and get comfy. Please note: we are allowed to park in the spaces at Balfour's - across the driveway - and in all the spaces in the center as all the retail locations will be closed. There is also some parking in the back as well as on the side street.
Weather affects everyone…, especially those of us who want to dive the Flower Gardens. This month’s speaker, Kent Prochazka, a NOAA Marine Forecasterwill talk about how they develop the forecasts and unravel some of the mysteries of marine weather. Kent’s originally from Nebraska and started as a weather observer and after college worked for the National Ocean Service as one of the few meteorologists that work for them in DC – there he did weather and oceanography anywhere there was water. He transferred to Houston in 1993 with the National Weather Service and does radar meterology, fire weather, general forecasting, marine forecasting and is an incident meterologist. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/marine/home.htm
