I have to drive 3 hours to get to Monterey and its not worth it unless conditions are good. Are there any resources online preferably where current conditions can be found? Monterey can be the best or the worst diving around so it would be nice to zero in on good days.

Thanks Brian

I did a dive at breakwater on friday. The water was extremely flat with cloudy skies. The vis was a decent 20ft or more.

The weekend before was absolutely great conditions for breakwater with close to 40-50ft of vis. I snapped a nice picture from 42ft all the way to the surface of a kelp vine.

Chuck tribolet has a really nice site for checking conditions. He has a tutor page on how to read it and then the actual conditions page

3 day swell is the most useful
also check the weather a few days before, cloudy a couple days before you dive is usually better. I think this saturday would have been great. I'm going to dive today sunday and from the swell report I think its going to suck but its still better then no diving.

That is a great link. it now has the #1 Position in my Dive folder in Favorites. I have reservations for Pt Lobos on Tuesday and the weather had me considering cancelling. But according to the the charts it looks like Tuesday will be acceptable.

Now you have be considering making the link my home page and when the forecast is for < 3' swell scheduling a day off. May have to consider that...

Vis was 45'+. Dove the Cannery Point Wall and it was awesome. My first time there. The marine life is there is amazing.

Cannery Point? Where is that exactally? Do you have the GPS numbers?

Cannery Point is the name of the western side of Pt Lobos reserve Pt Lobos

Here is a link to the map of the bay. Map

This is an awesome dive, but it takes planning if you want to dive on a weekend or holiday as they limit the number of divers. Go to the site and read about it. Bottom line is that it has been an underwater park for 70 years so the marine life is awesome, they have good walls to 90'+. A little something for everyone.
