Monterey Dive Charters

A general question.

I have found a number of dive charters with similar week end schedules in Monterey. Is it fairly easy to just show up and get a seat on one of these boats the day of the dive or are they all booked well in advance making reservations absolutely essential?

I realize all charter operations prefer divers to book in advance. I am thinking of a situation where I plan a shore dive and plans change and/or my buddy doesn't show.

Some Charters allow it if space is available and they have the minimum requirement to go out. You can check for space availability online. Also give them a call and print the liability waiver beforehand.
