What is the Mo2vation Dive?

This is a monthly gathering of all divers in SoCal who can make it.

It was named after our SoCal member Mo2vation because of his love for boat dives and all of the friendly jabs he takes at our monthly Wrinkles Beach Dive and BBQ. :crafty:

We welcome both ScubaBoard members and non-ScubaBoard members that you know. It's open to divers of all skill levels from "What's an anchor line?" to "Do we really have to dive the Andrea Doria again?"

This is a great way to meet our fellow divers and make new dive buddies! You don't have to have a buddy to participate, lots of us would be happy to buddy up with you.

RSVP:

RSVP on the ScubaBoard Calendar once you have a confirmed reservation:

http://www.scubaboard.com/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=456&day=2005-10-29&c=32

(you can now rsvp and include your guest count for your non-ScubaBoard buddies!)
Please sign up on the Calendar and update your party size on the calendar with changes, so that we can compare our list with Ray's in advance and make sure that there are no discrepancies.

Confirmed Reservations:
Let me know if I've misrepresented anyone's confirmed reservations here.

Christian - Where will we be going to dive and how many dives are included? Can we bring our own tank, if desired? How quickly do we need to pay to reserve our spot (how many open spots are on the boat)?

Phil,

It's an open boat to Catalina and has worked out a deal to give us discounts as more divers join in. This takes the pressure off of us to fill the boat on our own. It also means that he could fill the boat before we all get reservations. So, it's first come, first serve.

The boat is completely open at the moment for this date. Once we have enough people signed up, then Ray will let us choose where we want to go specifically (conditions permitting). Some of this will depend on the skill levels of the divers on the boat, of course.

How many dives we do will likely depend on how much time we spend getting from one location to the other, but feel free to call Ray and ask him how many he expects we might do. Maybe someone who usually goes out on his open boats can chime in here. Fills and food are not included in the price.

You can bring your own tanks.

Just an fyi, you should also talk to ExpressDivers.com (Rick). He charges $85 as well, but that includes Air and snacks/drinks. Thats a savings of about $15-20 right there, and he may work out a deal for # of people. Plus his boat is docked right next to Sundiver.

Thanks Brian.

I've been out on his boat and had fun. Since we just started putting together boat dives for ScubaBoard members, these first 3 dives were done rather quickly and I had limited time for "research". It just gets us started.

Now that this has been put into place, I'll start a thread about the possibilities for the 2006 calendar year. We'll look into different operations, other locations like San Diego, Ventura and Santa Barbara and a preset Saturday each month.

I'll probably start that thread sometime in the next few days. We have plenty of time and should think about making decisions by sometime in November.

Doesn't ExpressDivers only do 2 dives though? Sundiver does 3, right? (Just checking).

I think that is a Sport Chalet only boat? I could be wrong, but that's what I thought...
