The seat retainer (the end plug that provides access to the HP seat) on the HP end of the reg is replaced with a retainer that includes an adjustment feature that allows some adjustment of IP with no disassembly. I understand the SP had done this with a previous regulator, but discontinued it when folks were damaging the HP seat trying to make adjustments when under pressure. I'm not sure what they have done to alleviate that problem. As a DIYer, I'm happy with my Mk20 configuration. I guess the Mk25 makes it a bit easier for a shop tech, who is probably not real familiar with your particular regulator, to make IP adjustments without another round of disassembly. Unfortunately, it also makes it easier for the less than thorough tech to decide the reg looks pretty good, adjust IP without disassembly and cleaning, and collect the $50.00 annual service charge. I have found that by removing or installing the washer/shim that is installed between the plug and the main body, I can effect a 4-5 psi adjustment without disassembly if desired. But if IP is changing, that is a pretty good indication that at least a disassembly and cleaning is required.
