I'm just setting up my new Mk17/G250v, and am curious as to which way it is intended to be rigged: Diaphragm cap (black cap with Mk17 logo) up or down? It came as a set with the hose (second stage) on the right when held with the cap up and that "looks" like it should be correct, but when mounted this way the markings for the ports are upside down making it seem like it was intended to be mounted cap down. So which is it?

I know it really doesn't make any difference in how it performs, but I am now curious as to how others have theirs set up.

So what say you, cap up or cap down?

As you mentioned it can be assembled both ways. Personally I have it done with the cap down. There are two reasons why I did it this way. Having cap down protects it from any sort of impact and possible damage. Second my MK17 is DIN and having it installed cap down makes the valve part very clean. In case it catches fishing line or kelp there is a good chance they just slide without entangling the cap.

Down. Bungees on dive boats have a bad habit of catching it if it is mounted up - which then of course catapults it overboard. They run about $7.00 to replace.

The voice of experience on that one. There is one somewhere close to tbe Bedfordshire if you ever happen to dive it...
