I'm a Fish!
This is non-diving related. My mom, sis and I are going to be in Minneapolis for about 5 days in Feb. We are staying downtown at a hotel connected to the Skyway.

What is there to do in Minneapolis in Feb? I am not a big indoors person so am starting to feel like I will go crazy already. I should never have agreed to this "compromise" but I did and can't change now.

I'm ok with doing a museum or two on a day, but I sure don't want to do that for the entire time.

Night times are covered as I believe Minneapolis has a beating heart on the live music thing (we are there from Thurs - Mon). But what the hey are we going to do in the daytime??

Hi there..

Well, if you're really hard up, you can go to the Mall of American and dive the Aquarium there.... haven't done it, but considered it, just for something to do... :)

Thanks...I haven't dived in that aquarium, but have done it in a different one. For those thinking about it - do it...it's a hoot! Have someone on the outside taking photos. I worked in an aquarium for ages and have precisely two photos of me doing the feeds - both with a big stingray on my head so you can't even see me! That's the only thing I wish I would have done...gotten more photos!

Mall of America is a might do...There's so much in there that I actually prefer shopping on my own - with a group it's too hard to cover everything as you wait while others dither over this or that!! lol

I appreicate any tips...

Ice diving is always an option. I suspect that one or more of the shops do ice dives on Square Lake in the winter and you could probably pick up an ice diving cert while you are there. Brrr....but it always seems like fun at the time.

If you are interested in vintage diving or equipment, there are lots of opportunties in MSP. Franz's house is virtually a dive museum and I think he looks in on the board here now and then or you could just check in at Vintage Scuba Supply's board.

go eat at Manny's Steakhouse! it's great. Btw.. make sure your credit card has plenty of room on it as it's not cheap. You'll easily pay $50 to $85 per person to eat there.

You can take the new light rail from downtown to the Mall of America. You could easily spend a day or two seeing all the Mall and shopping. St. Paul has their Winter Carnival going on right now. A great Ice carving competition right now. There are some good Theaters in downtown Mpls, or maybe a Timber Wolves game? Lots of good food around downtown Mpls.
