I'm a Fish!
Hi All,

I posted this over in the gear forum, but I didn't get much input. I'm hoping I get some ideas here! Anyway, we are leaving for S.E. Asia and the surrounding area in a week. We will be travelling for six months and was wondering what some thoughts on minimum gear to bring would be. We are going fast and light and obviously there will be many places where we will not be diving. I was planning on bringing regulators, computers and masks and renting all other gear. I don't maybe it would be smart to bring our core warmer shorty's for sanitary reasons...
All input greatly appreciated!

That is pretty much the exact gear that I'm taking to Cuba with me in a couple weeks. Aside from bringing my own fins. I think you should be fine with that.

Yeah, I was thinking about taking fins. We were just on Bonaire. We had all of our own gear with us then. I did notice that some of the rental fins looked pretty lame...

since it sounds like you're going to be renting most of your gear anyway, i'd just stick to my mask, computer, fins, and booties

Our computers are AI so I need to bring the whole rig, plus I do kinda like using my own regulator ...

nod.. you're definetely not taking too much, so i think it will work

(was just trying to trim down a bit)

me personally?

i would ... booties and fins

Travel light?
Wallet only

Travel slightly heavier?
Fins and mask

Travel loaded
Mask, fins, computer and reg.

Travel overweighted
bring it all.

Anything can be rented, it just depends on what you want to rent.
