Last week was my first ocean diving experience. My friends and I went down to the Outer Banks. It was a good trip, although the previous week's storm had hurt visibility.

Tuesday was the Zane Grey. This was my first time on a boat, and I neglected to take dramamine. I was fine until after our first dive, which was also marred by a navigation error... We couldn't fine the line up, had to surface a couple hundred meters from the boat, and had a long and tiring surface swim back to the boat with my buddy.

I was tired and skipped the second dive of the day. I had a lot going on, including jsut getting over a serious sinus infection the week before. Afterwards, I was close to canceling the rest of the week but decided to try again the next day.

Wednesday was the Advance and was a much better dive. I got two dives in and had a great time... We saw some huge barracuda who seemed to be keeping an eye on us at our safety stop.

I'm really glad I dove Wednesday. If I hadn't I don't know if I ever would have gone on a boat again.

Thursday my friends dove at the Jackson... I canceled this day, as I had several other things going on.

Overall, good trip. I wish I had gotten another dive or two in, but I can't change things. One thing my friends and I learned is to schedule dives first, then worry about lodgings: We were staying at a house in Hatteras village and diving out of Roanoke, so we had a 1.5 hour drive every morning and afternoon.

I should have pictures up soon.
