Has anyone tried using a mini mag light as a back-up torch? The lights are sealed by gaskets with the exception of the lens. It seems as if the simple addition of a gasket would yield a decent dive light.

They sure aren't very bright though. Nothing compared to my 2watt Mini Q40, and that still isn't much of a light. They do have conversion kits to make the Mini mags LED though. I think they were $20. It is hard to swallow a $20 conversion kit for a $9 light.

well if one doesn't think it is bright enough as-is; it is less bright with the LED kit we have converted one. I imagine it would leak at depth too.
