Synthetic is just an overall better choice no matter what you are pumping. I am still using a compressor I bought in 1968, the manufacture said use only mineral oil. For the first couple of years I had problems with carbon build up particularly on discharge valves. I switched to Anderol 500 and haven't had a problem since.
