co2 retention seems a likely cause

Be safe and go overboard (No pun intended)

1) If your using personal equipment have it serviced
2) Talk with your doctor
3) Check with DAN
4) Switch to higher O2 levels with Nitrox,

When you next go diving just for the heck of it, while diving, every couple minutes just take a moment, close your eyes take a deep breath and relax.

Drink plenty before and after dives and breathe normally under water. Even make a conscious effort to breathe as normally as possible.

Think you're all right. I do need to breath deeper and probably get the Nitrox certification.

Most of all I need to jump back in before getting discouraged as does my dive buddy and here's why:

Sunday's dive was a Parkinson's charity dive for my dive buddy who has early Parkinson's at age 38. When he jumped in his mask immediately came off. Then the weight belt slipped to around his knees. Then he discovered his BC wasn't holding ANY air. So he ended up missing both boat dives (I did the second) on his own charity trip he'd spent months organizing. On top of it, on the way back to the dock he "fed the fish".

So needless, we are going to get all equipment checked out and jump back in as soon after.

Thanks for all your help!!

Something that hasn't been mentioned and is a big trigger for me is neck position.
I'm trying to perfect my horizontal trim and arched back, head up posture underwater
but keeping my head bent up/back (where the tendons meet the skull) just kill's me after a
short time. If that's the case, you can probably find out at home or work while sitting at the computer or watching TV.
