I have a pair that I use with my Bio full foot fins and they work great for that, however; I have never used them with my open heel fins. I suspect, that it would depend on how well your foot pocket fit you. Most open heeled fins, in my case, would be to loose to use with the socks. (I have a size 14 foot.)
Why don't your boots fit you anymore? Perhaps a bigger or smaller boot will do it, or even a change in MM.
