Hi gang, Just got back from sunny, warm Mexico and thought I would try to warm everybody up with this little report.
Got on the plane in 9 degree weather in Detroit and 3.5 hours later, stepped off into 82 degree weather. My wife and I spent the next 7 days on the Maya Riviera near Playa Del Carmen just kicking back and soaking up the sun.
I did get some diving in. I spent one day at Dos Ojos cenote. We did a two tank dive there because there are two parts to that cavern. They just recently opened up a new section and it was really cool. I felt I got as close to cave diving as I'll probably every get doing this section. I dove with two Italians and a German, plus Julian, our guide from Dressels. I just know I would get cave certified if I lived around central Fla. It really fascinates me. But I just don't see the point getting all that training and laying out all that $ for gear living up here in Ohio.
I also did one ocean dive--a pretty fast drift and I wasn't very impressed. We saw some large turtles, a few schools of blue tangs, a moray eel. Drift diving is very easy on the body, but since I can't stop and look at things and under ledges and such, I'm not a big fan. I buddied up on this dive with Nickolas, another Italian. Lara, also from Dressels, was our guide on this trip All in all it was a wonderful break from this winter weather we are having here in Oh. I put some picts in this post (I hope they show up) just so you could see that there really is a sun out there.
