Hi. I don't like the standard "k" plastic power inflators sold with technical wings because it just doesn't feel right to me. I've tried the brass inflator golem gear sells, and it's great, but it doesn't work with a wide-bore hose. Ive looked for the halcyon stainless steel, but there dont seem to be any left and I guess there were lots of problems with them anyway.

Are there any other metal-based power inflators out there? Thanks for the info...

I still have the failed Halcyon one from my wing that is going cheap :D.....free actually. I am not even sure why I kept it. I went with what was deemed more reliable (for the life of my I cannot recall what exactly it was though) and that happened to be plastic.

I'm with Steve on this. Plastic does not corrode -- that's one less reason for it to stick and fail. Even stainless steel is not corrosion proof.

The apeks one had a recall last year because the bottom button falls off. I'd think about that.

I tried it, it's too slippery. Plastic IMO is better.

It's too bad... The brass one golem gear sells is fantastic. If it was in imperial size so it worked with a standard corrugated hose it would be perfect.

I quite like my Apeks inflater. It is one of the new (after recall) ones with nice large metal buttons.

I believe that metal Halcyon inflators are no longer made. I think they had reliability issues.

Having shifted from the metal Halcyon to the plastic, I much prefer the plastic.

I have the standard Halcyon plastic inflator and it works great, very easy to precisely manage the amount of air needed in the wing. The steel H had reliability issues and I believe so do some of the other makes.
