I'm looking to chose a housing for my Canon S120 and am wondering it the opaque housings will work with the Af35, as the strobe requires detection of the internal strobe with it's wireless sensor.

It would be a very Frankentein project as the Af35 is "seeing" the cameras preflash. If you go to a metal housing most have very small windows designed to accept a optical sync cord. You maybe able to use it as a Slave but even then results maybe spotty. Time to move to something like a Sea & Sea YS-01 or the like.

I believe your choose is an Ikelite housing for use with the Af35 or a different strobe. Most of the metal housings will require a fiber optic cable. If you already own the Af35 just go with the Ikelite housing if you don't own the strobe as of yet shop around for one that can grow with your system. The Af35 is a good introductory strobe but really limited in it's growth potential.
